Circles of Civility is a nonprofit with a mission to create greater awareness of the importance of civility though civil discourse starting with young children and continuing through adulthood.

"If you smile at me, I will understand 'cause that is something everybody everywhere does in the same language.”

- Stephen Stills, Wooden Ships, Crosby, Stills, & Nash

If we want to develop a more civil society—one in which we have a better opportunity to understand each other and build community—we will need an appropriate vocabulary. That is the goal of Circles of Civility: To create greater awareness of the importance of civility through civil discourse starting with young children and continuing through adulthood.

But how do we get this crucial vocabulary into the hands of all children? Discover how this project helps them develop the vocabulary to become civil, caring people in a civil, caring society.

Our Story

Philip R. Einsohn is an educator, waterjet design expert, husband and parent. His spectrum of life lessons inspired him to create the ever-evolving Circles of Civility project: a digital book with personal stories, case studies from Waterjet Works questions/prompts, an evolving list of Civility guide words, alongside an interactive learning activity. Use magnetic, waterjet cut puzzle shapes with keywords to engage everybody in conversations around civility.
